Corrections, Retractions, and Other Issues
Corrections policy
JSP will correct published articles when errors affect interpretation, indexing, author information, metadata, or the accuracy of the scholarly record. Minor typographical errors that do not affect meaning may be corrected silently at the editor’s discretion. Significant corrections will be published with a correction notice linked to the original article.
Retractions and expressions of concern
JSP may retract an article if there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable because of misconduct or honest error; if the article contains plagiarism, fabricated data, unethical research, duplicate publication, or serious legal/ethical problems; or if the publication process was compromised. When an investigation is ongoing but the evidence is not yet conclusive, the journal may publish an expression of concern.
Retraction notices should be clearly identified, linked to the original article, state the reason for retraction, and preserve the scholarly record without removing the article unless legal or safety reasons require restricted access.
Complaints and appeals
Authors may appeal an editorial decision if they believe there has been a procedural error, misunderstanding, conflict of interest, or demonstrable factual mistake in the review process. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the editorial office within 30 days of the decision and should explain the grounds for appeal clearly.
The Editor-in-Chief or a delegated senior editor will review the appeal. If necessary, the manuscript may be assessed by an additional editor or reviewer. Appeals are considered carefully, but they do not guarantee reversal of the original decision.
Complaints about editorial conduct, reviewer conduct, publication ethics, or published content should be sent to the editorial office. JSP will acknowledge complaints, investigate them fairly, and communicate the outcome where appropriate.
